Rosti cut accidents by half
Rosti cut accidents by half in 2008
Key Fact 1. Rosti Technical Plastics has cut by more than half the frequency and number of Lost Time Accidents (LTA) during 2008.
Key Fact 2. In 2008 Rosti completed a global survey of its environmental impact and is now well placed to implement industry leading improvements.
Rosti is making excellent progress towards its goal of reducing LTA's and has also completed a data base of measurements of its environmental impact. In mid 2007 Rosti Technical Plastics embarked upon an ambitious and ground breaking programme. The goal was to develop a "World Class" Health Safety & Environment (HSE) management system that would deliver continuous improvement in the health and safety of all Rosti employees as well as ensuring that the environment is given a high priority in business decisions.
As one can imagine that to deliver real progress on diverse technical and cultural issues in a global group is challenging and requires a lot of planning but now Rosti now has a common HSE Policy across the world.
Each Rosti site HSE Manager is very much part of Rosti's global HSE team and has made a significant contribution to the development of the plans. A note of Congratulations to everyone who helped to begin the journey toward a world class performance was sent by David Knight, the company's COO.
Rosti's 5 year plan is ambitious; the objective is that every person in the business and every other business that trades with Rosti either as a customer or a supplier will be involved in HSE continuous improvement process. In Rosti, health, safety and the environment is a top priority and a commitment has been made to show concern for human life and health and to protect the environment in all circumstances. "We want to give all our employees a workplace without incidents or injuries and a working environment characterised by well being and concern for each other" said Mr Knight.
The environment for many people is an area of great concern but this concern does not always convert into practical steps toward real reductions in environmental impact. At Rosti we are determined that our environmental impact is minimised. Every Rosti business measures its electricity, gas, fuel oil, and process emissions. "We are able to compare our businesses performance in many environmental areas against the best in the group and in the world and we are now setting business targets for improvement. This is a world class approach to environmental progress and it gives every one of us in the Rosti businesses an opportunity to contribute to environmental improvement" added Mr Knight. Rosti is proud of how it has begun this endeavour but now there is on focus on results and continuous improvement. H.S.E. is undoubtedly gaining in importance around the world and Rosti has made a very good start to becoming an industry leader in this area.
