Some historical facts about the Royal Palace:
The Royal Palace was built in the period when the Polish capital was changed from Krakow to Warsaw. The king needed a new residence, and he gave the order to erect the king's palace of Zamek Kr¨®lewski out of the ruins of an old castle.
Only Europe's best architects and master builders of those times were employed for the ambitious project. Most of them were Italians. The construction works took 20 years. The wishes and demands of the Polish king were quite high. The palace was totally destroyed during the Second World War. In 1971 the whole building was reconstructed.
