Rosti Nederland invests in a Tandem manufacturing cell

In collaboration with one of the world’s brands in medical diagnostic disposables, Rosti at its facility in Tilburg the Netherlands has invested in a fully automated injection moulding, optical inspection, RFID labelling and packaging cell.
The front end of the cell was built in collaboration between Rosti & Engel and consists of 2 tie barless injection moulding machines of 280 and 180 tons and a complete automated transfer unit between the 2 machines.
The product is a disposable system made up of 6 injection moulded parts, requiring following
• Precision moulding with tolerances of 0.02 mm
• PP and TPE material
• Over moulding of 2 plastics parts, as 2K Moulding was not an option due the large differential in weights between the 2 parts
• Injection moulding of parts of a desiccant compound material.

The product has been under development for the past 5 years and Rosti is proud to be the leading this development and being at the forefront of plastic manufacturability.
Rosti has selected Engel to design and build the moulding & automation cell at their facilities in Austria and Germany respectively.
The automated transfer unit was designed and installed and flips the parts over and also bring them closer together to fit in the second mould within the fast cycle time.. After over moulding the parts go into a packaging machine which packs the parts in trays also done within the cycle time. After certain intervals the machine puts a shot aside for measuring and quality check purposes.
Rosti has selected Hendricks to design and build the optical inspection and packaging automations which includes RFID labelling, automatic in line inspections and packaging systems.

The full cell has been installed and validated and operational since March 2010
