Rosti Technical Plastics is fully compliant with the environmental policy and reporting requirements of the AP Moller Maersk group (APMM).   APMM state that “we believe in sustainability, and we support initiatives that promote environmental responsibility. Complying with environmental legislation is obviously fundamental, but where we believe it right, we will strive to do more than what is simply necessary to comply with legislation”.

At Rosti we are determined that our own environmental impact is minimised and that we have a beneficial impact upon the environmental impact of our customer’s products. In order to identify our most effective actions we first measured our businesses consumptions and emissions in 2007 these measurements were refined and standardised early in 2008.   Every Rosti business now measures its electricity, gas, fuel oil and water consumptions as well as CO² process emissions and reports these on a monthly basis against annual targets.   This data is consolidated into a common Rosti data base and further integrated into APMM reports. Rosti can now understand and identify where the areas of greatest environmental improvement might be.    Rosti has an environmental strategy and CO² reduction targets through to 2012, this is a world class approach to environmental progress and it gives every Rosti stakeholder an opportunity to contribute to environmental improvement.

Performance to Date 2009

Rosti set targets of 893 tonnes CO² reduction 2008 and 659 tonnes CO² reduction in 2009. Rosti is now at the ⅔ year stage and within its target range for Energy Consumption and CO² emissions. Energy is 57%and Emissions 60% of annual targets.
The above environmental improvement in operations is being delivered from education in good practice which we regard as our “low hanging fruit” and investment led specific CO² reduction projects.   The current projects will deliver a reduction of 768 tonnes of CO² and we have many more projects pending on the implementation list.   However operational improvement is just one of the strategies Rosti has developed to attain over time a position of leadership in sustainable manufacturing practice.
