In Rosti we talk a lot about Sustainability and CSR, in particular around topics related to our carbon footprint.
Rosti Poland, which is the biggest Rosti site in Europe, was the first site in the group to conduct a carbon footprint audit to understand our direct and indirect impact of our CO2 emission and expand actions towards becoming carbon neutral.
A globally-recognised system that has been established for measuring and reporting greenhouse gases helps organizations to separate the emissions they can directly control (Scope 1) from those they can control only indirectly (Scope 2) and those they can merely influence or over which they have no control at all (Scope 3).
Whereas Scope 1 and 2 are mandatory to report, the Scope 3 is voluntary and the hardest to monitor, yet, we are successful in reporting all three scopes, what has gained us a sustainable competitive advantage.

Among the ongoing improvement projects in Rosti, you will find tree planting, which is recognised as one of the most engaging, environmentally friendly activities, as not only does it neutralize both our direct and indirect emissions, but there are numerous environmental & social benefits beyond carbon offsets such as purifying groundwater, preventing from overwhelming storm drains and having a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.
Not many of us know that one tree consumes 6-7kg of CO2 per year and helps saving energy. Since 2019 Rosti Poland have planted over 10 280 trees neutralizing over 70 000 kg of the emitted CO2 and supporting at the same time the local Forest Inspectorate in maintaining forested ecosystems. Our plan is to plant another 14 000 trees still within this year to reach the target of neutralizing 100% of the forecasted emission.
“Maximizing our operational efficiency, using renewable energy or planting trees are an integral part of Rosti Poland blueprints for addressing the risks associated with climate change. We are without a doubt a wisely managed business leading our path to a better future. Becoming carbon neutral is our number one priority. At the same time our annual planting trees campaigns raise community spirit and build unity among Rosti Poland employees creating fully sustainable mindset within organization.“ – Michał Lubik, Managing Director Rosti Poland
