Rosti’s Global Technology Roadmap – Innovative Technology for Tomorrow

For many years our Global Technology Roadmap has seen us continuously invest time, money and engineering expertise to identify, analyse and develop innovative injection moulding technologies.

Our commitment to research and development of new capabilities ensures we remain at the forefront of the global plastic injection moulding market, as a close strategic contract manufacturing partner for our customers.

From our three Digital Innovation Centres in China, Poland and the US, the heads of each department form the Global Technology Group test and prepare new injection moulding capabilities to bring to market.

Our Engineers have been analysing and testing new technologies for many years, with many examples of bringing new ways of manufacturing to the market, which are currently being used by our customers today.

Our investment into additive manufacturing shows both the versatile capability to produce complex parts, not possible with a single tool, and a cost-effective process to create complementary lower-volume parts without investing in expensive moulded tools.

We are the first in China to have the latest technology, having acquired the machine and technology.

We use an established Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) development process, originally developed by NASA. This is a standard way of showing how mature a technology is and when it can be used in production.

This rigorously scrutinises each developmental stage of a new capability to ensure that only the best-fit and commercially viable reach a ‘technology readiness’ stage. This means a particular capability can be offered to a customer and is ready to be put into production.

In the rapidly changing plastic injection moulding market, there are new methods or developments in technology that are constantly being spoken about.

Global Technology Group’s role is to benchmark each new idea against a Priority Matrix to select which technologies to take forward based on strict criteria. This provides clear direction on where to focus resources and investment, to only concentrate on the technologies that are commercially viable and in line with the markets we operate in.

As we all know, not all technologies make it to a stage where they are fully adopted or provide real benefits.

At Rosti, our commitment to our customers is to continuously improve production efficiencies, reduce the environmental impact of our operations and that of the products, as well as ensure we are using and developing the very best capabilities within the injection moulding market.

As a partner to some of the world’s leading brands, Rosti needs to be in a position to offer production-ready solutions using cutting-edge technologies, to resolve new challenges our customers face.

On the other hand, in line with our transparent client relationships, we can confidently say why a capability will not be viable based on our in-house evidence and analysis.

In collaboration with our customers, suppliers and teams, we are constantly listening to the markets we operate in, searching for ideas and new approaches to injection moulding. By being aware of new opportunities at the earliest opportunity, our Innovation Centre teams begin to gather key information in order to select which opportunities we believe are worthy of investment to test.

How do customers benefit?

Rosti is able to lead on technological innovations and capabilities, providing customers with solutions which aren’t available in the market.

We provide production-ready technologies, allowing customers to benefit from the speed to market, confident that a particular technological capability is appropriate for their requirements. This provides our customers with a competitive edge in their respective markets.

A key benefit for customers of the Global Technology Group is cost savings from the testing and validation stage through to reducing the cost of production.

The fundamental aim of technological innovation is to save time and money whilst improving the quality of parts and products. Here are three key benefits to customers when we bring innovative capabilities to the market  –

  • Automation removes the handling process and disruption to production
  • Speed to Market – reducing time in prototyping and testing
  • Reducing production processes and tooling

Our customer also benefits from access to ideas and capabilities across the globe, through our three strategically located teams. Knowledge and intelligence sharing provides a continuous flow of information, allowing us to provide customers with insights and solutions they may need to be made aware of.
