Rosti Group Responds to Asian Market Growth with Advanced India Facility

Pat Williams, Senior Vice President of Rosti Asia, shares an insight into the vision and strategy for the Rosti India facility located in Chennai, which will initially focus on high-precision plastic injection moulding and contract manufacturing.

Rosti India will provide high-quality contract manufacturing services, including injection moulding, precision assembly, and value-added processes. Designed to support both transfer programs and new customer requirements, the site enhances our ability to deliver responsive, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions across Asia.

We value Asia as a highly robust market, and Rosti’s customer-centric approach of partnering with companies requiring high standards of quality, precision and supply chain stability will be the cornerstone of the Rosti facility in India.

An integrated network of operations – China, Malaysia and India

Rosti’s presence in China, Malaysia, and India adds value to regional supply chains, providing our customers with flexibility, precision, and cost-efficiency.

Rosti India adds flexibility and geographic diversity to our Asia manufacturing network. While Rosti China supports advanced manufacturing (AI driven) and automation for established programs, and Rosti Malaysia focuses on contract manufacturing and operational stability, Rosti India offers a scalable and cost-competitive base to serve regional and global customers.

In recent years, we have diversified operations in Asia, China strengthened for medical devices; Malaysia enables competitive-cost, high-quality contract manufacturing; India is being developed for full contract manufacturing, utilising the developing supply chain and diversifying Rosti’s production footprint.

Rosti India – bringing manufacturing advantages to demanding markets

Our Chennai facility will house 20 injection moulding machines in a 7,500 sqm production space and designed for rapid scale-up. It supports lean manufacturing, traceability, and efficient workflows tailored for contract manufacturing. Scheduled to be production capable by November 2025, the facility in India is well-positioned to handle transfer programs and is built to accommodate a wide range of consumer and industrial products.

Also, one of the advantages is that the Rosti facility is located in ESR Industrial Park in Oragadam. As the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai boasts of having a well-developed infrastructure for exports, the third biggest in India. The industrial park serves as ideal location for the manufacturing operations of leading international companies. The park is highly accessible being near the Chennai International airport and Chennai seaport.

The Chennai facility is testament to how we are focused on providing the same level of efficiency for all of our sites located across the globe.

At the Chennai facility modern injection moulding machines run under a digitalised quality system in an automation-ready layout. Aligned with Rosti’s global standards, the facility is designed for consistent quality, process control, and traceability. It also offers real-time connectivity for performance tracking and remote support from other Rosti sites in Asia.

Rosti India is supported by Rosti’s Asia Digital Innovation Lab, which offers technical and production expertise to help deliver ideas to market rapidly and cost-effectively. The facility utilises smart building techniques for more responsive, efficient, and sustainable operations.

Embarking on sustainability through green technology

For Rosti Groupsustainability is a very important subject, and this has been reflected in the Group’s strict adherence to the European standards and sustainability goals through its adoption of green technology.

Rosti India is aligned with the Group’s sustainability roadmap from day one. We have taken initiatives that include the adoption of energy-efficient equipment, localised sourcing to reduce carbon footprint, and implementation of waste management program.

The Chennai facility will contribute to Rosti’s targets such as increasing renewable material usage, advancing responsible sourcing, and undergoing third-party sustainability evaluations. The implementation of energy-efficient practices and localisation are aimed at reducing the environmental impact of transporting the materials while at the same time supporting the local economy.

Vast pool of manpower as advantage

There is no denying that apart from being an attractive market for manufacturers, India is in an enviable position as it has gained a strong lead in technical manpower resources. India’s workforce is one of the main factors that attract foreign companies to set up their operations in the country, and Rosti recognises this.

India offers a strong combination of technical skill and operational reliability. Rosti India benefits from this talent pool by building a capable local team, supported by our Asia Regional Team. In particular, Chennai has a number of technical universities which are the source of creative young minds.

We plan to employ 100 people at its facility with workforce expected to rise over the next two years. The result is a cost-effective, flexible operation that can meet the fast-evolving requirements of customers in Asia and beyond.

Growth opportunities across Asia

The Chennai facility will take centre stage as an example of how Rosti has been meeting the highest industry standards. We adhere to international standards, including ISO 45001 for Health and Safety, and certifications such as Responsible Business Alliance and EcoVadis in order to bring the best manufacturing solutions for our customers.

As we enhance our presence in the region, Rosti India is set to become a key pillar in Rosti Group’s Asia expansion.

Rosti is planning further investments in automation, facility expansion, and transfer programs from other regions to create a world-class facility in Chennai. We are also evaluating future growth opportunities across Asia to strengthen our regional presence and reinforce Rosti’s commitment to being a long-term contract manufacturing partner for global customers.
