Jonas Persson, CEO of Rosti Group, outlines a bold roadmap for the next five years, one that redefines how global manufacturing meets sustainability, innovation, and customer partnership.
In this interview, Jonas discusses Rosti’s strategic priorities, the shifting global manufacturing landscape, and the investments driving our leadership in sustainable plastic injection moulding. From reshoring trends to automation, discover how Rosti is shaping the future of manufacturing.
What are your key priorities for the next 3 to 5 years, and how do you see the industry evolving?
Sustainability remains one of our central priorities and its importance continues to grow, particularly across Europe and increasingly in North America. We are seeing a much greater focus from our customers, especially large global organisations, who are investing heavily in sustainable materials and looking at their circular economy.
We are seeing an increase in demand for green and compostable materials, with a lot of research and development underway in this space. It’s encouraging to see how innovation is driving the material science sector forward.
Geographically, we continue to see the global supply chain shifting. Many companies are moving production out of China and into Southeast Asia, which aligns well with our existing and expanding footprint in the region. Our site in India complements this strategy perfectly. We also plan to set up a site in Vietnam during this period.
We’re seeing more customers reshoring, especially bringing operations closer to their home markets in both Europe and the United States. There’s a strong emphasis on diversification of supply chain whilst also localising production to be closer to their own facilities and / or their customers.
For you personally, what is the most exciting outcome of the strategy work taking place at Rosti?
The most exciting aspect for me is how our strategy positions Rosti within emerging, high-growth industries including the EV (Electric Vehicle).
This global market requires the precision, quality, and reliability that Rosti is known for, and they present significant long-term potential for innovation and growth.
In recent years, our Poland, Romania and North Carolina facilities have been and continue to deliver projects for global OEMs and Tier Suppliers. We are looking forward to expanding further into the EV market through our global network of manufacturing sites.
How does Rosti stay ahead of regulatory changes, particularly when operating across diverse global markets?
We’re taking a proactive approach to ensure we stay ahead of changing legislation and reporting requirements. We will publish our first sustainability report in 2026, which will align with international reporting standards and help both us and our customers meet sustainability goals.
Part of our responsibility as a global manufacturer is to remain aware of the broader environmental impact of our industry and ensure our practices continue to evolve responsibly.
As a global player in injection moulding, how do you see trade barriers and tariffs evolving, and what impact might they have?
We’re already seeing a significant shift in global manufacturing trends. The move away from China toward Southeast Asia, the United States, and Europe is well underway. Many of our customers are navigating these changes and turning to Rosti to help them restructure their supply chains.
In an increasingly complex political and economic environment, customers need reliable partners who can help them mitigate risk. Our global footprint enables us to respond quickly, providing consistent quality and capability across all sites.
Having consistent quality standards, systems, and expertise at each of our global facilities means we can transfer production and support customers seamlessly – effectively helping them diversify their supply base and strengthen their resilience.
What investments in technology or infrastructure are you making to ensure Rosti remains competitive and adaptable?
We are investing heavily in automation – both in machinery and in process automation across our operations. From ordering and invoicing to production and assembly, our goal is to enhance productivity and efficiency through intelligent automation and AI-driven systems.
These investments build on the strong process control foundation that Rosti has developed over many years. Integrating AI elevates this even further, allowing us to optimise production.
We are also expanding our manufacturing capacity globally. In Europe, we have added a new factory in Sweden; in India, we have launched a new site; and in North America, we’re adding two new cleanrooms – with another being built in China.
This expansion supports the growing demand we’re seeing in both Europe and the United States, ensuring that we can continue to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions close to our customers’ key markets.
Thanks to our extensive global presence, we’re able to seamlessly support customers in shifting production between countries, ensuring continuity, quality, and speed.
