Rosti Group: A Truly Global Solutions Provider

At a time when the global economy is facing a host of challenges, Jonas Persson wanted to share some insight into how Rosti Group is helping our customers navigate uncertain times. It’s also important to highlight the measures and changes we’ve put in place internally, mainly leveraging our technical, engineering, production, and sourcing expertise to be a true Global Partner to both current and potential customers.

Localization of Injection Molding Production

Customers worldwide, in every sector, are increasingly looking to manufacture products and components closer to their customer base. This shift is being driven by rising shipping costs, the introduction of tariffs, the pandemic, as well as issues related to raw material prices and availability, along with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

You can reduce the risk associated with sourcing and supplying goods by manufacturing in countries or regions that are local to your customers.

Thanks to our global network of injection molding locations, we are ideally positioned to support businesses manufacturing in Europe, Asia, and North America. Alongside our production capabilities, you’ll benefit from our global product design, innovation, and engineering expertise.

Historically, deciding where to produce has focused on choosing a single low-cost site. With today’s changing landscape, it may now be more cost-effective for a global brand to produce in multiple locations close to major markets.

For example, a Chinese brand might have two main customer bases in the UK and the US. In previous years, it may have been more efficient for Rosti to support them from our Innovation Center in Suzhou and manufacture in China or Malaysia before shipping to the UK and US.

Fast forward to today, it would be cost-effective to continue working with the team in China for design and testing, and then set up production with either Rosti UK or Rosti North America. This is a true example of a Global Partner, helping you reduce the risks of supplying goods to customers.

The localization conversation has been around for a while, but today’s challenges have sped up the process. To do this successfully, it’s crucial to partner with an injection molding company that has the right capabilities, capacity, and expertise to support you.

Production Transfer Expertise

Continuing with reducing supply risk, Production Transfer has become an increasingly important topic. We’re seeing customers not only wanting to localize production but also looking to set up a secondary production source as backup if their main production is disrupted.

Transferring or duplicating production to another region of the world (ideally strategically located with your customer market in mind) needs to be done professionally with a partner who has experience and expertise.

Rosti Group has the capability and capacity to help customers have multiple sources of production, keep quality standards, implement tooling, and manage both processes and costs.

As an injection molding and solutions partner, we can support customers with both their primary and secondary production, and also work together with a customer’s main injection molding partner.

Our goal is to help customers increase their capacity around the world.

Facing Inflationary Pressures

As inflationary pressures are being felt around the world, Rosti Group is driving automation across our business to help us address this challenge.

We are constantly carrying out Value Added Engineering (VAE) to seek out cost-saving opportunities. Rosti proactively does this analysis and shares it with customers to help them manage costs and plan ahead as effectively as possible.

Rising energy costs are accelerating the move to find alternative sources of energy, and we are naturally turning our attention to renewables. Across all our locations, we are working hard to introduce energy-saving, environmentally friendly measures to cut costs and reduce our overall environmental impact.

A Truly Global Partner

With our strategically located sites around the world, combined with the knowledge and expertise in our teams, we constantly share knowledge, information, and sourcing needs across all our sites and departments.

This is vital in helping us and our customers tackle the challenges facing the world today. We are ideally positioned as an injection molding and solutions partner, working with customers at every stage of their product’s lifecycle.

Due to global material shortages, Rosti can offer our customers alternative raw materials that have the same qualities and meet requirements, but can be sourced at lower cost or with greater ease through Rosti in another region.

With our technical and engineering support, our customers can develop a product with their local Rosti team and then seamlessly move production to another region close to their customers or end users. We expect this to grow in the coming years.

We have implemented internal communication channels that allow us to share market analysis and insights as circumstances change (such as availability and price fluctuations). This enables us to track and monitor when and where it’s best to source materials at any given moment. For example, we track daily resin prices, which lets us source resin in a specific market to ship to our other plants. This level of collaboration gives us as much control as possible over our supply chain.
