Rosti Group: Advancing Our Transition to Renewable Energy

At Rosti Group, sustainability is at the core of our operations, and one of the most effective ways we can minimize our environmental impact is by addressing emissions. Energy consumption accounts for a significant share of emissions within our value chain, making it a central focus of our commitment to sustainability.
The Importance of Renewable Energy
Through thorough analysis, we found that 15% of our total emissions were tied to energy consumption. In 2024, our total group-wide energy use reached 77GWh, with 43GWh coming from clean energy, representing 56% of our total consumption. This gives us a clear opportunity: by converting the remaining energy use to renewables, we could make a significant impact in cutting our overall emissions.
Factory-by-Factory Approach
As sustainability becomes an increasingly vital factor for businesses, more of our customers are reaching out to their suppliers to understand their renewable energy commitments. At Rosti, we believe in complete transparency, and we want to showcase our energy transition journey—factory by factory. This approach enables our customers to make informed choices about where to base their production, depending on each site’s sustainability credentials.
Collaboration and Challenges
To speed up our move to renewable energy, we’ve partnered with existing suppliers, moving from clean sources like nuclear to fully renewable alternatives. However, navigating the landscape and availability of energy markets across different global regions comes with its own unique challenges. Despite these complexities, we’ve made meaningful progress.
Progress and Future Goals
In 2024, we successfully transitioned three of our sites to using only renewable energy, marking a major milestone in our sustainability journey. Specifically, our production sites in China, Germany, and Clearfield (US) have secured 100% renewable energy for 2025, while Romania and Poland continue their strong track record of 100% renewable energy. Additionally, our Gislaved site in Sweden has made the switch from 100% nuclear (clean energy) to 100% renewable energy, further reinforcing our commitment to greener sources.
Additionally, our Turkey facility continues to make progress in self-generation, producing 10% of its energy needs with its onsite solar infrastructure. These initiatives show our dedication to sustainable energy practices throughout our global operations.
As a trusted partner for global customers, we know the need for flexibility. Many of our customers operate in several markets and need suppliers who can support their sustainability goals no matter where they are. By making renewable energy a priority at our sites, we aim to give them peace of mind that their production supports their environmental commitments.
Looking Ahead
Our goal for 2025 is to increase our renewable energy use to 75% of our total consumption, though in reality we expect to surpass 85%. This target demonstrates our dedication to speeding up our switch to cleaner energy and further shrinking our environmental impact.
Our shift to renewable energy is ongoing, and we’re committed to constantly improving to cut emissions and promote sustainable production. By closely partnering with customers and suppliers, we’re helping shape a more sustainable future—one factory at a time.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow our renewable energy initiatives and advance our sustainability commitments.
