Rosti’s 6 R’s of Sustainability
Our Sustainability Framework defines the role and responsibility of every individual in the company, using the Rosti 6R’s to make greener choices from Concept to Reality.
Replace and Respect
Whenever possible, we choose new renewable materials to lower the CO2 impact of our solutions by utilizing recycled, reprocessed, BIO, and renewable materials.
This has also led our engineers to help customers replace high-CO2 plastics and metal parts with innovative design and plastic material options, which reduce CO2 throughout the product’s life cycle.
Our mission is to review, assess, and replace elements of our operations, which also extends to our supply chain and packaging. Better understanding our supply chains has allowed us to introduce returnable packaging, improve pack density, and optimize material supply in order to further reduce CO2 emissions generated during our global logistics operations.
By managing our resin bead using Operation Clean Sweep and Lean principles focused on eliminating waste, we strengthen our foundations through Rosti’s Values and Behaviors.
Reduce and Reuse
All our global production facilities are energy-intensive, with high-volume and automated manufacturing processes. We carefully match the right process to the right product to reduce energy use, lowering our CO2 footprint and that of our customers.
Lightweighting products through innovative tooling and construction solutions has allowed us to reduce reliance on virgin materials as well as logistics impacts.
By reducing the weight of our products, we are taking out excess material from the whole supply chain to the end user or consumer, thereby reducing the emissions generated in this process.
One of our primary focuses is on producing high-quality parts the first time, reducing the amount of scrap and wasted products. Our Innovation Center and cutting-edge prototyping capabilities allow Rosti to test and analyze products with production-ready materials, making changes and tweaks before going into full-scale production.
By analyzing our energy consumption and production plans, we have put in measures to Turn Off or Turn Down systems when not in use, to reduce our energy use.
Recycle and Recover
Where we generate waste, segregation for recovery is mandatory to reduce our impact on the communities in which we operate.
Recycling and reprocessing scrap materials prevents virgin material from entering the supply chain and the environment. We use inline recycling equipment to eliminate contamination and also regrind material externally to reintroduce into our products.
Waste stream management gives us clear visibility of where our waste goes and we work to eliminate these streams through the Rosti Lean Sigma program and targeted sustainability events. Our ultimate goal is Zero Waste to landfill.
Our Lean and Continuous Improvement Principles—aligned with I Connect, I Improve, I Deliver—engage people to eliminate waste and support our sustainability goals. The 6R’s give us a mindset to consider all options and make greener choices throughout our product and process design, managed through Executive Management review of our Sustainability Key Performance Indicators.
