Strategic Outlook for 2026 – Jonas Persson

Jonas Persson, CEO of Rosti Group, lays out an ambitious roadmap for the next five years—one that reimagines how global manufacturing approaches sustainability, innovation, and customer collaboration.
In this interview, Jonas discusses Rosti’s strategic priorities, the changing global manufacturing landscape, and the investments driving our leadership in sustainable plastic injection molding. From reshoring trends to automation, discover how Rosti is shaping the future of manufacturing.
What are your key priorities for the next 3 to 5 years, and how do you see the industry changing?
Sustainability remains one of our core priorities, and its importance continues to grow, especially across Europe and increasingly in North America. We’re seeing a much greater emphasis from our customers—especially large global organizations—who are investing heavily in sustainable materials and looking at their circular economy.
We’re seeing increased demand for green and compostable materials, with a lot of research and development happening in this space. It’s encouraging to see innovation driving the material science sector forward.
Geographically, we continue to see the global supply chain shift. Many companies are moving production out of China and into Southeast Asia, which aligns well with our existing and expanding presence in the region. Our site in India fits perfectly into this strategy. We also plan to set up a site in Vietnam during this period.
We’re seeing more customers reshoring, especially by bringing operations closer to their home markets in both Europe and the United States. There’s a strong emphasis on diversifying the supply chain while also localizing production to be closer to their own facilities and/or their customers.
For you personally, what is the most exciting result of the strategic work happening at Rosti?
The most exciting aspect for me is how our strategy positions Rosti within emerging, high-growth industries including EVs (Electric Vehicles).
This global market demands the precision, quality, and reliability that Rosti is known for, and it offers significant long-term potential for innovation and growth.
In recent years, our Poland, Romania, and North Carolina facilities have delivered, and continue to deliver, projects for global OEMs and Tier Suppliers. We’re looking forward to expanding further into the EV market through our worldwide network of manufacturing sites.
How does Rosti stay ahead of regulatory changes, especially when operating in diverse global markets?
We take a proactive approach to ensure we stay ahead of changing legislation and reporting requirements. We will publish our first sustainability report in 2026, which will align with international reporting standards and help both us and our customers achieve sustainability goals.
Part of our responsibility as a global manufacturer is to stay aware of the broader environmental impact of our industry and make sure our practices continue to evolve responsibly.
As a global player in injection molding, how do you see trade barriers and tariffs changing, and what impact could they have?
We’re already seeing a major shift in global manufacturing trends. The move away from China toward Southeast Asia, the United States, and Europe is well underway. Many of our customers are managing these changes and turning to Rosti to help them restructure their supply chains.
In an increasingly complex political and economic environment, customers need reliable partners to help them manage risk. Our global footprint allows us to respond quickly and provide consistent quality and capability across all sites.
Having consistent quality standards, systems, and expertise at each of our global facilities means we can transfer production and support customers seamlessly—effectively helping them diversify their supply base and boost their resilience.
What technology or infrastructure investments are you making to ensure Rosti stays competitive and adaptable?
We’re investing heavily in automation—both in machinery and process automation across our operations. From ordering and invoicing to production and assembly, our goal is to enhance productivity and efficiency through intelligent automation and AI-driven systems.
These investments build on the strong process control foundation Rosti has developed over many years. Integrating AI enhances this even more, allowing us to optimize production.
We’re also expanding our manufacturing capacity worldwide. In Europe, we’ve added a new factory in Sweden; in India, we’ve launched a new site; and in North America, we’re adding two new cleanrooms—with another being built in China.
This expansion supports the growing demand we’re seeing in both Europe and the United States, making sure we can continue to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions close to our customers’ key markets.
Thanks to our extensive global presence, we can seamlessly support customers as they shift production between countries—ensuring continuity, quality, and speed.
