Rosti Group’s Partnership with Position Green to Track and Lower Carbon Footprint
Earlier this year, Rosti Group made a notable advancement in our sustainability journey by partnering with Position Green, ESG experts, and carbon platform providers. Our initial focus has been on accurately measuring our carbon footprint, gathering essential data, and establishing a comprehensive baseline that will guide our Site Champions in minimizing our environmental impact.
This foundational data enables us to precisely understand how our business operations generate emissions and highlights the key areas needing improvement. Since results vary at different sites, local teams are now diligently working to identify and address the most significant opportunities to reduce our environmental impact.
Carbon Footprint Analysis
Our analysis showed that about two-thirds of our emissions come from the materials and parts we purchase for our products. The rest of the emissions mainly come from energy consumption. This awareness is critical because it directs our attention to the areas where we can make the greatest improvements.
Implementing Initiatives and Committing Resources
For some time, we have been introducing new measures and evolving our processes to help our customers reduce their environmental impact. Working closely with Position Green, we are now positioned to confidently move forward to achieve our sustainability goals, including –
Product Design & Innovation
By designing lighter, simpler, and easily recyclable products, we can significantly reduce emissions. These designs use less material, energy, and resources overall, resulting in a smaller environmental footprint and supporting a circular economy.
Material Validation & Selection
Using green materials such as recycled or renewable resins and plastics in our products can greatly reduce emissions. Our Innovation Centers are fully equipped to test and validate these materials for our customers, ensuring that sustainability and quality work hand in hand.
Renewable Energy
Shifting to renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and hydro, or choosing cleaner fuels such as nuclear power, has already made a significant difference. Nearly half the energy we purchase today is fossil fuel–free. Still, we are committed to doing more. Our Energy Champions at each site continually work to improve energy efficiency and find ways to run our factories using less energy.
Operational Improvement
Cutting waste across all business activities not only lowers costs but also reduces emissions. Our projects focused on reducing and reusing resources are an essential part of this effort, helping us operate more sustainably.
Measuring and Targeting for Impact
With a clear view of our emissions profile, we can now target our actions for maximum impact and measure the results accurately. This strategic approach will enable us to effectively reduce our overall carbon footprint and strengthen our position as a responsible partner for our customers.
