Rosti Poland plants over 10,000 trees to offset its carbon footprint.

At Rosti, we often talk about sustainability and CSR, especially regarding topics related to our carbon footprint.
Rosti Poland, the largest Rosti site in Europe, was the first site in the group to conduct a carbon footprint audit to understand the direct and indirect impact of our CO2 emissions and expand actions toward becoming carbon neutral.
A globally recognized system has been established for measuring and reporting greenhouse gases, helping organizations separate the emissions they can directly control (Scope 1) from those they can only indirectly control (Scope 2) and those they can merely influence or have no control over at all (Scope 3).
While reporting Scopes 1 and 2 is mandatory, Scope 3 is voluntary and the most difficult to monitor. Nevertheless, we have succeeded in reporting all three scopes, which has given us a sustainable competitive advantage.

Among the ongoing improvement projects at Rosti, you’ll find tree planting, which is recognized as one of the most engaging, environmentally friendly activities. Not only does it neutralize both our direct and indirect emissions, but it also brings numerous environmental & social benefits beyond carbon offsets, such as purifying groundwater, preventing storm drains from being overwhelmed, and having a positive impact on mental health and well-being.
Not many of us know that a single tree absorbs 6-7kg of CO2 per year and helps save energy. Since 2019, Rosti Poland has planted over 10,280 trees, neutralizing over 70,000 kg of emitted CO2 and at the same time supporting the local Forest Inspectorate in maintaining forest ecosystems. Our goal is to plant another 14,000 trees this year to achieve the target of neutralizing 100% of the forecasted emissions.
“Maximizing our operational efficiency, using renewable energy, and planting trees are all integral parts of Rosti Poland’s blueprint for addressing the risks associated with climate change. There’s no doubt we’re a well-managed business leading the way toward a better future. Becoming carbon neutral is our top priority. At the same time, our annual tree planting campaigns raise community spirit and build unity among Rosti Poland employees, creating a fully sustainable mindset within the organization.” – Michał Lubik, Managing Director, Rosti Poland
