Rosti Turkey reduces cosmetic packaging weight by 36% using recyclable materials

Rosti Turkey In-Mould Labelling

Rosti Turkey successfully supported a global cosmetics brand achieve their sustainability goals by switching the packaging material to Polypropylene, and realizing the benefits of Injection Mould Labelling (IML).

After working closely with the customer to understand their sustainability targets, Rosti Turkey was well positioned to help them reduce packaging weight by 7.6 grams per unit and eliminate secondary energy-intensive production processes. This further lowered the product’s environmental impact and resulted in a 22% cost savings.

Sustainable Injection Molding

Rosti Turkey switched to Polypropylene from a crystal jar, which enabled our customer to save both operational time and money while producing a more environmentally friendly product.

Previously, our customer used a crystal version of a jar, which needed an additional heat treatment after production to apply labeling.

By changing to Polypropylene and In-Mould Labeling, there’s now no need for secondary processing. As a result, the energy and time required have been eliminated from the production process.

Collaboration with Tooling Partner

By transitioning to a new material, we worked closely with our long-term tooling partners to design and test new tooling in order to meet the desired quality standards.

Our suppliers supported us in monitoring and developing the tooling and process throughout the manufacturing stage.

This collaborative approach was essential as we transitioned to a new material, new injection molding process, and made adjustments to the product.

Through developing our collaborative working relationship with our client, we have been able to reduce the carbon footprint of the product and manufacturing process by 12%, which has also resulted in a 22% cost saving.
