25 Years of Expertise in Coffee Machine Manufacturing

For millions of people, the day doesn’t really start until the first cup is made. Coffee has grown from a morning habit into a global culture. Across several countries, including the UK, a nation long associated with tea, more people now say they regularly drink coffee than tea. Behind every capsule, pod and press of a button is a machine that must deliver a perfect cup on demand. For 25 years, Rosti has been part of that story through coffee machine components manufacturing, producing the essential parts inside some of the world’s best-known coffee machines.

25 years of Rosti in coffee

Rosti has been in the coffee market for 25 years, growing alongside it. Over that time, we have supported some of the biggest global coffee machine brands, across different continents, as the market has expanded and kept expanding. Tooling, knowledge and production can be transferred across regions, brands can grow into new markets without changing the standard of the part. Those 25 years also sit within more than 80 years of precision moulding experience, since Rosti was founded in 1944.

Coffee machine brew chamber components: Where the intelligence lives

Coffee machines are often judged on how they look on the kitchen worktop and aesthetics do matter. But the real intelligence of a coffee machine is in how it turns beans, grounds or powder into coffee and that all happens in the brew chamber.

The brew chamber is where temperature, flow and cleanliness come together. It must hold the right temperature range, deliver the right flow and keep its lines clean so nothing from the last cup carries over into the next. Each cup needs exactly the right ratio of water to coffee, whether it’s the first of the day or the thousandth.

This is where Rosti’s expertise sits: plastic injection moulding for coffee machines and the precision component manufacturing behind it, alongside the ancillary parts that support it, such as water chambers and reservoirs.

The Lid: Decoration with a job to do

Whether you slide it, flip it or close it, the lid is the part you touch every day. It needs to look right, but it also must work hard: antibacterial, pleasant to touch and resistant to staining. Techniques like in-mould decoration let us combine a premium finish with practical, hygienic performance in a single component. Our in-mould decoration process integrates the decorative film directly into the moulding cycle, giving a consistent finish with excellent scratch and chemical resistance.

A small part with a big job

One of the best examples of why component quality matters is the piercing needle inside a pod-based brewing system. It must stay sharp enough to pierce each pod cleanly, however many times it is used, while withstanding brew temperatures from 88 – 96 degree. For one global brand, we produce this needle from PEEK, a high-performance resin as strong as metal and can also be used in medical implants. It’s an expensive, demanding material, and one we mould in our Malaysia facility.

Decaf: A different challenge

The rise of decaffeinated coffee has brought its own set of challenges. Decaf powders behave differently from regular coffee and are harder to manage, which changes the dynamics inside the machine. Understanding those differences and designing components that cope with them is part of the knowledge we have built up over 25 years.

Why consistency matters more than anyone realises

There is a commercial reality for coffee machine brands, revenue doesn’t come from selling machines, it comes from selling coffee. If a machine breaks down, the consumer doesn’t just replace it. They may switch to a different brand altogether and the manufacturer loses that customer’s coffee revenue stream.

That’s why brands choose suppliers on quality and consistency, not just price. It means:

  • Tight tolerances on small, critical parts
  • Absolute consistency across high-volume production
  • Food-contact certified manufacturing environments, so every component in contact with water and coffee meets the required standards

Every production run is backed by product validation, in-line inspection and traceability systems and our Rosti sites hold ISO 9001, BRC Food Standards, FDA and quality management accreditation.

What 25 years means for other appliance manufacturers

The lessons from coffee apply well beyond it. Food-contact compliance, tight-tolerance small parts, decorative surfaces that perform as well as they look and consistency at high volume are needed across kitchen and home appliances. Rosti’s global network of sites means we can deliver that consistency close to your end market.
