Powering the future of residential energy storage: How Rosti supports the growth of a leading residential energy storage manufacturer

Rosti North Carolina team

As demand for renewable energy continues to grow residential battery storage has become a critical part of creating a more resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure. One of Rosti’s customers, a global leader in residential energy storage is helping homeowners maximise clean energy technoligies use while supporting grid stability. Behind every high-performance battery system is a reliable supply chain capable of delivering precision engineered components that meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Supporting renewable energy through local contract manufacturing

Our customer operates in the highly regulated grid-connected battery systems sector, manufacturing residential battery storage systems that must meet stringent safety, quality and performance standards. Residential battery systems store significant amounts of electrical energy within homes, making component reliability and product integrity critical throughout the product lifecycle.

Among the key certifications for battery energy storage systems are UL 1741 SBand UL 9540. UL 1741 SB establishes the safety and performance requirements for inverters, converters, controllers and interconnection equipment, ensuring energy systems can safely connect to and interact with the electrical grid. UL 9540 is the recognised safety standard for complete energy storage systems, assessing how batteries, power electronics, enclosures and control systems operate together to minimise electrical, mechanical and fire-related risks.

Meeting these standards requires more than innovative product design. Every component must be manufactured consistently supported by robust quality systems, material traceability and validated production processes to ensure reliable performance throughout the product lifecycle.

As the business expanded its North American manufacturing capabilities, it identified the need for a resilient regional supply chain. By localising production, Rosti helped strengthen supply chain resilience, reduce lead times and support compliance with evolving domestic sourcing requirements while providing the engineering, quality and manufacturing expertise needed to deliver components ready for production.

Meeting tight plastic production timelines

Recognising the need for a reliable manufacturing partner, the customer turned to Rosti to localise the production of critical plastic injection moulded components for its residential battery storage systems.

The project involved transferring existing production tooling while simultaneously managing the design and build of new injection moulds. Rosti coordinated the entire transfer program overseeing tooling relocation, new mould development and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure a seamless transition into manufacturing.

The transferred tooling is now in production, while the newly built moulds are currently completing PPAP ahead of full production release.

A key factor in the project’s success was the dedication of Rosti’s engineering and quality teams in North Carolina. Working closely with program management and manufacturing they maintained momentum throughout tooling transfer, validation and PPAP activities. Helping keep the project on schedule and ensuring production readiness within an ambitious timeline.

Sustainability in the production at the core

Sustainability is at the heart of both our customer and Rosti making this a natural and powerful partnership. Our customer is committed to accelerating the transition to clean energy by enabling households to store renewable energy generated from solar power, helping to reduce carbon emissions while increasing energy independence.

Rosti shares this commitment through its focus on responsible manufacturing, resource efficiency and sustainable production practices. By localising manufacturing the partnership further strengthens these shared sustainability ambitions by reducing transportation distances, simplifying logistics and building a more resilient regional supply chain. Working together also supports responsible sourcing while meeting the growing demand for locally manufactured renewable energy technologies, creating long term environmental and operational benefits for both businesses.

Building the future of renewable energy together

As the renewable energy market continues to evolve, partnerships between innovative energy companies and experienced manufacturing suppliers will become increasingly important.
